NKPC 소식
사랑하는 NKPC 회원여러분께
지난 주일 성령강림주일을 맞아 성령의 충만 역사하심이 교회 회중과 함께 하셨기를 빕니다.
다시 산하교회 및 회원들의 몇 가지 소식을 다시 나누게 됨을 기쁘게 생각합니다.
1. 미국장로교 218차 총회가 미가 6:8의 말씀 (공의를 행하며, 인자를 사랑하며, 겸손히 네 하나님과 함께 행하는 것)을 주제로 하여 산호세에서 6월 21-28에 가지게 된다. 전체 총대수는 752명이고, NKPC 산하 회원교회에서 오는 총대는 모두 13명(4개의 한미노회에서 8명, 지역노회에서 5명)이고 네 한미노회에서 3명의 young adult delegate 가 참석하게 된다. 16개의 위원회에서 수고하고 또 전체 회의에서 수고하게되는 이들 총대들을 위해 여러분의 기도를 부탁드립니다.
두 분의 한인 목사님이 총회 아침예배에서 설교하는 honor를 가지게 됨을 기뻐합니다: 6월 24일에는 미네소타의 김진성 목사님이, 28일에는 호놀루루 제일장로교회 Dan Chun 목사님 (NKPC 회원은
아니지만) 이 설교하게 됩니다.
Top Ten List of Issues before the 218th GA are:
1. A revised Form of Government: A proposal of revised polity that would be more flexible and appropriate for a missional Reformed church for the 21st century
2. Partnership in World Mission: A call for an “Expanding partnership in God’s mission” for the renewal of the PC (USA)’s World Mission
3. PC(USA) ecumenical stance and covenants: A proposed new policy on the ecumenical stance of the PC (USA) and covenant agreements with four different churches: the Korean Presbyterian Church in America, the Episcopal Church, the Catholic Church, and the Moravian Church)
4. Peace, unity and purity of the PC (USA): Several proposals concerning the peace, unity and purity of the church and reconsideration of the actions by the 217th GA in this area (PUP Report)
5. The Belhar Confession: A proposal toward adding the Belhar Confession to the Book of Confessions (this confession grows out of the experience of Christians in South Africa and is an affirmation of the biblical call to Christian unity and racial reconciliation)
6. Middle East Concerns to strengthen the PC (USA)’s witness to peace with justice in relation to both Israel/Palestine and Iraq
7. Elections: election of moderator for the 218th GA (4 candidates) and election of new Stated Clerk of the GA (one nominee from the Nomination Committee and three challengers)
8. Ordination exams: Out of the self-study, the Presbyteries Cooperative Committee on Examination identifies a number of concerns related to ordination exams and the preparation to ordained ministry and calls for a study to identify new direction both for the ordination exams and the partnership between presbyteries, seminaries and the General assembly
9. Domestic social justice concerns: Adoption of a new Social Creed and policy papers on mental illness, energy and global warming, pay equity for women, homelessness and electoral reform
10. A church for future generations: The church’s ministry to and with youth to ensure a church for future generations.
이번 총회에서 다루어질 10대 잇슈에 대한 것은 위의 영어로 쓴 것을 참조하시기 바랍니다. 세번째에 있는 항목으로 본 교단과 미주한인장로회 간에 목사와 교회의 orderly transfer and exchange를 위한 그리고 선교협력을 위한 협약 관계 (covenant relationship) 과 제의될 것이고, 가장 큰 잇슈로는 현 규례서의 교회 정치형태 (Form of Government)를 수정하는 보고서로서 많은 논쟁이 예상되고 있어 총대들께서는 6월20일 (금) 오후 7:30 – 9:00 사이 혹은 22일 (주일) 오후 3:30 – 5:00 사이에 있는 Form of Government task Force Presentation 시간에 참석하셔서 충분히 들으시고 판단하시기를 바랍니다.
한인교회의 발전과 사역증진을 위하여 총회 사무국에서 총회에 제의하는 보고서는 규례서 G-11.0102와 G-12.0102k에 대한 수정안으로서 Committee of General Assembly Procedures 에서 03-07,
“Amending G-11.0102 and G-12.0102k Regarding Non-Geographic Presbyteries” 의 항목으로 다루어지게 되는데 한인 총대들은 03-07에 찬성해 주시고 또 총회에서 통과될 수 있도록 기도해 주시고 힘써 주시기를 바랍니다. 자세한 내용은 첨부한 것을 참고하시기 바랍니다.
또한 같은 Committee에서 다루게 되는 #03-18는 남가주 및 하와이대회가 상정한 헌의안으로서 한미노회를 기한 제한 없이 계속 존속하도록 해달라고 요청한 것이다. 1984년에 한미노회가 처음
조직될 때에는 10년 기한으로, 그 후 다시 15년 기한으로 그 존속이 연장되었었다. 지난 몇년간 한미노회 내에 여러가지 어려움이 있었으나 2006년에 Transformation Task Force 가 생겨 변혁을
시도한 결과 대회의 호의적인 반응을 얻어 이번에는 존속 기한의 제한없이 존속할 수 있도록 대회가 헌의안을 올린 것이다. 아무 어려움없이 통과되도록 기도해 주시기를 바랍니다.
이번 교단 총회에 예장 (통합)에서 총회장을 위시로 배우자 포함 18명이, 그리고 기장에서 2분이 참석하게 됩니다.
이번 총회에 참석하는 한인 총대 및 guests들을 위하여 6월 21일, 오후 5:30 – 7:00에 산호세 대성장로교회에서 NKPC가 주관하고 대성장로교회의 성도들이 host하는 Korean Dinner가 있사오니 다 참석해 주시기를 바랍니다. 버스가 컨벤션센타에서 6월 21일 오후 5시 15분에 떠나게 되므로 “NKPC” logo가 붙은 버스를 타시기 바라고 만일 찾지 못할 경우에는 530-902-0562로 연락하시기 바랍니다.
